Salisbury Pantry aims to go beyond the food bank model in creating a sustainable and long-term solution to food poverty and work as a membership scheme. Our Salisbury Pantry shop is part of our Communities team.
This role is a job share where responsibilities are shared with our existing manager. The role involves managing Wednesday pantry operations and working with the existing manager to manage membership and funder communications, manage, support and develop the volunteer team, develop and deliver promotion events as well as liaising with food donation partners and suppliers to ensure stock levels are maintained. There will be responsibility for maintaining our food hygiene standards and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at the Pantry.
We are looking for a motivated person to deliver a friendly and efficient essential community resource. You will work to support the Head of Community Services to plan the long-term development and sustainability of the Pantry.
Responsibilities
* Assist in managing Wednesday pantry operations and support the existing manager in day-to-day activities.
* Manage membership and funder communications with the support of the existing manager.
* Support, develop and supervise the volunteer team; promote volunteer involvement.
* Plan and deliver promotional events; liaise with food donation partners and suppliers to maintain stock.
* Maintain food hygiene standards and create a welcoming, inclusive environment at the Pantry.
Essential Criteria
We are looking for someone who:
* Is a great communicator with a welcoming approach
* Has experience of delivering quality customer service
* Has experience of catering or food retail
* Is committed to working with volunteers to create a positive experience for members
* Is able to deal with competing priorities and a range of tasks including receiving and managing stock
* Supports our aims of improving wellbeing of Salisbury residents and supporting those within our community on low incomes to access the right support
Requirements by Area
* Experience — working in a catering or food retail environment; delivering quality customer care; manager or supervisor; working with and handling cash; using a range of IT systems including Outlook, Word, Excel, databases
* Knowledge — Food Hygiene standards
* Skills — ability to plan ahead for staffing and stock requirements; ability to keep accurate records using various formats (paper records, Excel); ability to work efficiently and complete all daily and weekly tasks without direct supervision
* Qualifications — Food Hygiene Certificate (or willing to work towards); Driving licence
* Attributes — strong interpersonal skills; positive attitude to working with diverse backgrounds; supportive of people on low incomes; flexible; able to work alone and in a small team; reliable and punctual; reasonable physical fitness to manage deliveries and stock
