Job summary
This post forms part of the Directorate of Adult Mental Health within the North Yorkshire and York Locality area of Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. Adult community mental health services are directly commissioned across two clinical commissioning groups - namely Richmondshire and Whitby CCG and the Scarborough and Ryedale CCG.
Scarborough is a town on the north-sea coast of Outer Yorkshire, England with a population of just over 67.000 people (2019 census). Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast.
This exciting 10 PA post has come about due to increased financial provision into the area. The post will be shared with another Full-time consultant who will work in the central area of the city. This post covers the provision of medical leadership to the Outer area of the Scarborough Community Mental Health Team (SICT). The division between outer and central sections is purely for medical cover purposes and follows an equitable division of local GP surgeries. The community team continues to operate as one community team. The job is split into 3 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPA) and 7 sessions of direct clinical care (DCC) and it is hoped that the post-holder will be encouraged to use the SPA provision within this post to engage in research, education or service development in conjunction with local colleagues in order to ensure that this can occur in formal protected time.
Main duties of the job
The post holder with provide consultant leadership in line with the principles of New Ways of Working to the Outer section of the Community Mental Health Team in Scarborough.
The community team is based at The Ellis Centre. The community team delivers care based on the principles of productive and purposeful care (PPC) to deliver clinical services which aspire to improve the quality and efficiency of our patients care journey.
The post-holders core clinical duties will involve formulation, review and leadership meetings, MHAct related work, and involvement in complex care planning meetings. Based on Royal College recommendations, Outpatient work will comprise 3,5 PAs; Clinical Admin 1 PA; MDT work 1 PA; Emergencies 1 PA and MHA work 0,5 PAs. There will be flexibility around this guide depending on team requirements and support.
