World Nuclear Association, the international organisation representing the global nuclear industry, is seeking to recruit a Finance Director to join its Operations team.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Finance Director is responsible for the financial function of the Association, ensuring excellent financial management and organisational resilience.
The Finance Director leads the day-to-day financial activities of the Association, such that it is well positioned to deliver the short and long-term objectives, providing financial information, analysis and recommendations to ensure robust decision making.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of the Association’s financial plan, reducing financial risk, maximizing income and delivering to ensure the most effective management and control of resources
Management of the Association’s end-to-end finance operations, financial budgeting and forecasting, reporting and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow planning
Ensure a robust control framework across the Association, developing a culture of continuous improvement to financial procedures and policies
Contribute to the development of appropriate strategies to optimise revenue for the Association, including identifying new revenue streams
Work in partnership with the Head of Membership & Business Development to develop effective membership fee invoicing, ensuring timely collection of fees and a robust debt collection process
Manage the Finance team with oversight of the day-to-day financial operations including Accounts Receivable & Payable, Payroll, Pensions, Expenses and Month End process
Work closely with the SLT and senior staff members, developing budgets which effectively allocate resources in aid of the Association’s objectives
Deliver the Annual Accounts and a successful audit process, ensuring full compliance with legal and statutory requirements
Present of regular, timely information to the Senior Leadership Team and Board to aid decision making, including financial analysis, identification of risks and recommendations
Act as Secretary for the AGM, including presentation of the Annual Report and Accounts for approval
Manage key external relationships with auditors, legal advisors, banks and other key suppliers of services relevant to the role
Work with HR to ensure all requisite insurance policies, and appropriate cover, are in place
Day to day management of the Finance Assistant, ensuring they have opportunities to develop their skills and experience
Assist with any other related work requested by the Director General or Head of Operations.
Experience required
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
Strong financial planning and analysis skills, including budgeting and forecasting methods
Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management and growth planning
Knowledge of legal, regulatory and tax frameworks for non-for-profit organisations
Excellent stakeholder engagement with ability to build good relationships both internally and externally
Working knowledge of Sage Intaact or similar ERP system desirable
Experience of engaging and presenting at Board level
Implementation and monitoring of financial policies, governance and regulatory compliance
Advanced Excel skills
