Occupational Therapy Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly and experienced Occupational Therapy team in our outstanding Trust. 1 part‑time post of 18.75h per week is available.
You will support qualified staff in delivering activities of daily living assessments, assisting with patient personal care and therapeutic interventions to in‑patients at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit at Leamington Hospital.
Your role includes providing rehabilitation for patients with an acquired brain injury, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering 1‑to‑1 and group activities, and assisting with the evaluation of Occupational Therapy input using validated outcome measures, as well as data management.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist in the provision of effective service delivery within the speciality.
* Manage an agreed caseload of patients under supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
* Follow recognised professional standards and agreed therapy pathway.
* Assist with standardised and non‑standardised Occupational Therapy assessments.
* Implement patient‑centred individual and/or group assessments and interventions.
* Maintain safe use of equipment for daily living.
* Evaluate responses to interventions and refer back to the Occupational Therapist.
* Organise own workload and support students and new staff.
* Maintain verbal, written and electronic patient records in accordance with Trust standards.
* Contribute to Key Performance Indicator targets.
* Assist with equipment ordering and stock identification within budgetary limits.
* Develop therapeutic relationships and support occupational therapy fieldwork placements.
* Assist in induction of new staff and students.
* Respect equality, dignity and diversity of all individuals.
Qualifications:
* Education to GCSE level or equivalent.
* Formal technical/training qualification to level 3 (e.g., NVQ 3, City & Guilds).
Experience:
* Experience working in a healthcare or people‑centred environment.
* Experience working within a team and with individuals/groups.
* Experience teaching staff, students or other professionals.
Skills:
* Basic knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions.
* Problem‑solving ability.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literacy and standard keyboard use.
* Interpersonal and organisational skills with prioritisation.
* Knowledge of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety legislation.
