Overview
Band 7 Midwife - rotational midwife. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to lead one of our inpatient teams. The post requires an enthusiastic, committed midwife to join our established dynamic and forward thinking maternity team. The midwife will be a highly motivated practitioner with a vision to support women and families through their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. The post holder will be part of a team of highly trained, dedicated midwives with excellent organisational and communication skills. The midwife must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on providing excellent quality care, working within the values held by Royal Free London NHS Trust.
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust became a new enlarged organisation on 1 July 2014. We now consist of the Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Take autonomous clinical decisions in an emergency to ensure safe outcomes for mother and baby.
* Lead and contribute to high-quality midwifery care within the inpatient maternity team.
* Collaborate with colleagues and students; provide mentorship and training where appropriate.
* Demonstrate competence in high-level clinical skills including epidural management, cannulation, suturing, water births (across services), and community home births where applicable.
* Demonstrate competency in adult and newborn resuscitation.
* Facilitate normal birth and care for women in physiological labour; support women’s emotional, spiritual and psychological needs.
* Support labour with non-pharmacological pain relief (e.g., use of water for labour and birth).
* Provide an environment that fosters learning through teaching in partnership with the practice development midwife.
Competencies and Experience
* Advanced practitioner with specialist knowledge, skills, and experience; able to advise, mentor and train colleagues and students.
* Experience across inpatient and community settings as applicable to the role.
