This role has a starting salary of £47,884 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. Part time applications are also welcomed.

Roles are available within our Connect to Community teams at:

1. Victoria Gate, Woking
2. Millmead House, Guildford

This is a hybrid role where the expectation is a minimum of 20% of the week in the office, as well as working in locations to meet the demands of the role as required.

About the Role

As a Senior Social Worker in Connect to Community, you will provide expert social work practice within a fast paced, front-door environment. You will work autonomously, applying professional judgement to complex situations while balancing support, risk and safeguarding responsibilities.

The role involves undertaking complex assessments, reviews and interventions in accordance with the Care Act, alongside leading on high‑risk safeguarding work, including Section 42 enquiries. It requires the application of advanced professional judgement to manage risk, uncertainty and competing demands, as well as supporting urgent responses such as Mental Capacity Act assessments and best interest decision‑making. You will be responsible for developing strengths‑based support plans that promote independence, wellbeing and prevention, while also providing professional guidance, mentoring and reflective supervision to less experienced social workers. In addition, you will contribute to a positive learning culture and supports ASYE development and practice education where required.

You will be a visible source of professional leadership within C2C, supporting consistent decisionmaking and high standards of practice.

Shortlisting Criteria

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our :

14. A Social Work degree and registration with Social Work England.
15. Substantial post-qualification professional experience as a social worker.
16. Experience of providing professional leadership.
17. Evidence of having built strong relationships and worked collaboratively with others.
18. An applied knowledge of The Care Act 2014 and The Mental Capacity Act 2005 and experience of undertaking Safeguarding Enquiries as well as experience of working in complex situations using professional judgement and a range of interventions.
19. You will have experience of, and be able to provide, professional, reflective supervision, guidance and advice to less experienced social workers, including those completing ASYE and social work students.
20. Experience of capital thresholds and Direct Payments

Experience in front-door, duty or urgent response work is particularly relevant to this role.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
