Dental Nurse Specialist - Part-time (13.5 horus)
The post holder will be supported by the Dental Nurse Manager, Senior Dental Nurses, RGN’s & multidisciplinary team to undertake all relevant aspects of dental nursing and patient management: and
be expected to act in an accountable manner, adhering to relevant codes of conduct and Trust policies.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties Summary:
· Assist dental practitioner with dental treatment: providing pre and post operative dental hygiene advice to patients in specialist dental areas e.g. orthodontic, maxillo–facial
· Carry out dental radiography
· Provide day to day or clinical supervision to less experienced staff.
The post holder will always be expected to provide a high standard of care by:
· Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of patient care
· Working closely with the department/ward manager, and multi-disciplinary team members, in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care, staff and service development within the department/ward environment
· Carry out all relevant forms of care under supervision and when proficient, demonstrate procedures of care; supervise junior qualified and/or unqualified staff including student nurses, all whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

Person specification
* 3 years pos-qualification experience
* 2 years experience in specialised dentistry
* Secondary care experience
* 3 years post-qualification experience
