Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist – Front of House
Job Summary
Fixed‑term/secondment position until 20/03/2027 covering maternity leave. If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee applying as a secondment, agreement from your current manager is required prior to application.
An experienced Occupational Therapist is sought to join the Transfer of Care and Liaison Service (TOCALS) team at Glangwili General Hospital. The team works closely with medics, nursing, discharge liaison, social workers, brokers, intermediate care, and community and third‑sector partners to deliver timely, home‑first support.

Main Duties
* Lead and manage a complex caseload, including complex manual handling and patient risk assessment.
* Work autonomously and collaboratively in a clinical and managerial role.
* Provide clinical leadership, specialist expertise and supervision to Occupational Therapy staff, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Rehabilitation Assistants/Frailty Support Workers, and students.
* Network with acute and community colleagues to coordinate a seamless service across pathways and sectors.
* Develop evidence base through audit, clinical effectiveness, and research activity.
* Support staff development, including supervision and delegation.
* Where appropriate, deliver outreach and follow‑up to prevent further hospital admissions.
* Experience of clinical governance compliance and service development negotiation.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Knowledge
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* Professional registration recognised by HPC.
* Evidence of relevant short courses and advanced training up to Master’s level equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
* MSc or postgraduate diploma in a relevant area.
* Fieldwork Education Training.
* Member of BAOT.
* Leadership training.
Essential Experience
* Extensive postgraduate experience.
* Managing a complex caseload.
* Delivering assessments/interventions via virtual platforms.
* Inter‑professional and multi‑agency team working.
* Direct involvement with carers and families.
* Negotiation of service development.
* Evidence of supporting service compliance with clinical governance.
* Therapeutic handling and risk assessment for severely disabled patients.
* Staff development experience (supervision).
* Experience of appropriate delegation and supervision.
Desirable Experience
* Student supervision evidence.
* Key worker/Case Manager.
* People management/supervision of staff.
* Negotiation of multidisciplinary working arrangements.
* Leadership of clinical networks/practice groups.
* Leading service development and change.
Language Skills
* Desirable: Welsh speaker (Level 1).
* English or Welsh speakers equally welcome.

Contract and Compensation
* Fixed term: 12 months.
