Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic Transport Operator to join our team. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Driver Management: Collaborate with the management team to motivate and guide drivers, ensuring optimal use of staff and resources to achieve high performance across contract efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Oversee Daily Milk Operations: Take ownership of the day-to-day milk logistics, including timely route dispatch, real-time monitoring of operations, and thorough driver debriefs.
System & Process Management: Manage the Transport Management System (TMS), APEX and associated milk app processes to ensure seamless operational flow.
Documentation Accuracy: Ensure all GDL and customer documentation is completed accurately and submitted within required timeframes.
Relationship Building: Maintain strong, professional relationships with drivers, customers, and farmers, resolving issues amicably and through appropriate channels.
Customer Collaboration: Work closely with customers to support operational needs and maintain service excellence.
Reporting & Recommendations: Provide regular updates to the management team on customer-related matters and operational insights, including actionable recommendations.
Health & Safety Compliance: Monitor and audit health and safety practices to ensure compliance with company standards.
Communication Handling: Respond promptly and professionally to queries via email, phone, and face-to-face interactions.
Performance Tracking: Assist in the production of KPIs and daily performance statistics to support continuous improvement.
Compliance Support: Contribute to compliance planning and execution in line with company procedures.
Operational Support: Provide direct assistance during vehicle breakdowns and other operational disruptions.
Driver Feedback & CMS Monitoring: Monitor the CMS system and ensure timely feedback and follow-up actions with drivers.
Gate Checks: Conduct gate checks to support operational integrity and compliance.
Required Experience:
1. Previous experience of working within the milk collection environment is desirable.
2. Ability to communicate at all levels.
3. Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
4. Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
5. Attention to detail is critical and working to deadlines daily.
6. Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
7. Computer literate.
8. MS packages to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
