An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Biochemistry team at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
The core working hours are 9am-5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with participation in the shift system expected.
The position is for a Band 5/6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist. Consideration will also be given to HCPC State registered Band 5 Biomedical Scientists who have not yet completed their specialist portfolio.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and suitably qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work within the busy paediatric Biochemistry department. You will work as part of a team across Pathology, contributing to the provision and development of a high-quality diagnostic service.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the Senior Biomedical Scientists in daily laboratory organization, prioritizing work, validating analytical data, operating and maintaining complex analytical equipment, reviewing quality control data, and contributing to service development and modernization. You will also write and review SOPs and train staff at all levels.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a good communicator, and enjoy working as part of a Pathology-wide team. The department encourages staff development through further education and attendance at regional and national meetings.
Consideration will be given to candidates who have not yet completed the Specialist portfolio.
