AHP Senior Support Worker

The closing date is 18 August 2025

Permanent: term time only contract | 26 hours per week

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated individual to join our dynamic Special Schools Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy Team, based within the post-16 provision at Talbot Specialist School. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of physical and learning disabilities, helping them to participate fully in family and community life.

Talbot Specialist School is a supportive and inclusive environment dedicated to students with additional needs. You'll work with experienced AHPs in a collaborative team. The role also includes community work, so a valid UK driving licence and access to a car is necessary .

You are:

Compassionate, respectful, and accountable in your approach

Passionate about supporting children and young people with disabilities

Experienced in health or social care (through employment, volunteering or placements)

Qualified to Level 3 (e.g. 3 A-Levels, T-Level in Health & Science, or equivalent experience)


Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Team Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Deliver routine therapy programmes under the direction of registered AHPs

Use play, positioning and physical activity to support rehabilitation

Manage your own caseload and monitor progress

Maintain therapy areas, manage stock and ensure accurate documentation

Promote participation and improve function in daily life for pupils

Please note that Sheffield Children's uplift pay to meet the Real Living Wage, which is £12.60 per hour.

Person Specification


Qualification and Training

* Level 3 qualification such as 3 A-Levels, Health and Science T-Level Or Knowledge and experience in health and science acquired through job specific training and experience equivalent to level 3


Experience

* Experience in health and/or social care settings, such as employment, work experience, volunteering or placement(s)
* Experience of using Microsoft Office applications
* Understanding of treatment plans and how to safely assist people


Knowledge and Skills

* Knowledge of how different health conditions affect physical and mental health
* Understanding of systems of the human body, movement and common health conditions
* Ability to motivate and engage with patients particularly where there are barriers to understanding
* Ability to empathise and understand to respond t patients needs and emotions
* Ability to work well within a team, contributing to team meetings and care plan development
* Well organised with the ability to respond quickly to changing situations
* Ability to maintain documentation and collect data for audit or service development

* Flexibility to handle various tasks and adapt to changing situations within the clinical environment
* Attention to detail when monitoring patient conditions and changes, as well as meticulousness in infection control
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions
