Senior Business Analyst – Public Sector (Permanent)
About the role
This is an opportunity to join one of the world’s largest and most established technology and transformation consultancies, working on a high-profile, long-term UK government programme with real national impact.
You will be part of a growing, client-centric consulting practice delivering complex, large-scale digital and IT change across the public sector. The role offers long-term programme stability, exposure to senior stakeholders, and a clear pathway into leadership within the organisation.
This is a permanent position, not contract, and sits within a well-established consulting practice known for delivering critical government services at scale.
Working model & location
* The role is remote most of the time, however:
* You must be willing to travel to client sites 2–3 times per month
* Client locations are Telford or Worthing (all travel is fully expensed)
To support collaboration and delivery, candidates must be based in one of the following locations only: London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Worthing, or Telford.
Key responsibilities
* Lead face-to-face and virtual client workshops, managing stakeholders with competing priorities to reach agreed outcomes.
* Take an evidence-based approach, using data to inform decisions and constructively challenge assumptions.
* Operate effectively in ambiguous, complex environments, bringing clarity and structure.
* Work closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, UX Designers, and wider delivery teams to shape end-to-end solutions.
* Lead Business Analysis delivery on complex, high-pressure programmes, setting standards and role-modelling best practice.
* Identify opportunities to add further value within client engagements and contribute to future work and proposals.
* Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, including the practical application of Generative AI to improve business processes.
* Line manage and mentor Business Analysts, supporting capability development and career progression.
Skills & experience
To be a competitive applicant you must have current or previous experience in public sector or consulting
* Delivering user-centred digital products or services
* Working within technical delivery environments, closely aligned with architects and engineers
* Engaging senior stakeholders to define needs and shape strategic solutions
* Supporting and developing other Business Analysts through mentoring or people management
* Applying a sustainability-led mindset to solution design
You will also be able to:
* Influence strategy and decision-making within large, complex programmes
* Develop deep domain expertise in the areas you support
* Understand solution architectures and underlying technologies
* Work confidently across both detail and strategy
* Build trusted relationships with stakeholders up to executive level
* Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance and coaching to clients
Qualifications
* BCS Business Analysis certification (or equivalent) is desirable
Security clearance
This role requires eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance. To be eligible, candidates must have resided continuously in the UK for the past 5 years.
