Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Holiday: 23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) increasing by one day per each year of service (up to a maximum of 5 days).
About the role
We are looking for a Junior Accountant in our Peterborough office, with a September 2026 start.
As a Junior Accountant, you will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting tasks while working towards your professional qualifications. You will assist with bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll processing, and the preparation of financial statements for a diverse client portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced accountants, develop technical skills, and build strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities
* Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, sole-traders and LLPs
* Preparing management accounts
* Corporate tax returns
* Personal tax returns
* VAT returns
* Bookkeeping for clients
* Delivering client service
* Working closely with clients, the accounts team and other departments, including direct contact with Partners, managers and clients to obtain the required information to prepare their accounts
* Involvement in audit work as and when required
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
* Minimum of Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English at GCSE
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel
* Self-motivated
* Organised, efficient, with attention to detail
* Demonstrate drive and initiative
* Reliable commute to the Peterborough office
* Comfortable in a client-facing role
* Dynamic individual with a positive 'can do' attitude
* Highly personable with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Logical approach and good with numbers
