1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Small Heath
Duration: Full time, ongoing
Salary: £85 – £100 per day
The School/Role:
An amazing special needs school in Small Heath is currently looking for a full-time 1:1 teaching assistant. The school is a community special school with students with SEMH. This role requires conducting thorough assessments to accurately identify and understand the social, emotional, and mental health needs of all pupils, ensuring that each individual’s unique challenges and strengths are recognised and addressed.

This role includes supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays, and providing direct 1-on-1 or small group student support.
Ideal Candidate:
* Demonstrates experience or a strong interest in supporting children with SEMH
* Has prior experience collaborating within the SEMH Department
* Exhibits flexibility, proactivity, and patience
* Shows nurturing and compassionate qualities in their approach
* Communicates effectively within a team
A new enhanced DBS will be required for this role or a subscription to the DBS update service.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teaching Assistant OR relevant SEN background
* PECS and Makaton training/experience
* SEMH needs experience
* Level 1 safeguarding certificate
* Recent school-based references
* Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
* Full DBS – on the update service
