Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate Teacher looking to make a real difference in a specialist setting? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Class Teacher to join a supportive and welcoming school in Derby City, working with pupils who have a range of special educational needs and social and emotional mental health.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a nurturing environment where every student is supported to reach their full potential. The school caters for children with a variety of needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. As a SEMH Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering a tailored and inclusive curriculum that meets the individual needs of each learner.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons, creating a structured and supportive classroom environment, and working closely with teaching assistants and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils. Building strong relationships and maintaining a calm, consistent approach will be key to your success in this role.

This position is offered through Tradewind Recruitment, providing you with ongoing support, access to professional development, and the opportunity to work within a highly regarded network of schools.

Key responsibilities include:

* Planning and delivering personalised lessons to meet a range of SEND needs
* Creating a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment
* Managing behaviour with a consistent and supportive approach
* Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies
* Monitoring and assessing student progress, adapting strategies as needed

We are looking for candidates who:

* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Have experience working with SEND pupils (desirable but not essential)
* Are patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive education
* Have strong communication and classroom management skills

In return, you will have the opportunity to work in a rewarding and impactful role where no two days are the same. If you are committed to supporting children with additional needs and want to be part of a dedicated team, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today and take the next step in your SEMH teaching career with Tradewind Recruitment.
