We are seeking an outstanding academic leader at professorial level in the area of global child health. This prestigious post will be known as the Takeda Chair in Global Child Health in recognition of a generous donation from Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd.
The appointee will have a strong track record of conducting high quality implementation science in child survival and health in low-and middle-income countries, including a focus on developing, testing and applying innovations relating to one or more of newborn survival and health, emerging infections and epidemics relevant to children, child undernutrition, optimal child development, and adolescent health. The post-holder will have a strong publications record in child health and proven ability to attract competitive and substantial funding from national and global research funders and other sources. PhD student supervision and mentoring skills would also be crucial. A doctoral degree in a topic relevant to child health and survival in low-and middle-income countries is also essential. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term for 5 years. The post is funded by the Takeda endowment fund and is available immediately.
The salary will be on the Professorial salary scale, Grade C-A in the range £74,139 - £118,887+ per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting), at the appropriate band for the selected candidate. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
