Our Client:
Our client is a well-established accountancy firm based in Grimsby, known for delivering expert financial and business advice across a range of sectors. They have developed a strong reputation for specialist services to GP practices and other healthcare providers. As their client base continues to grow, they are looking to expand their team with a dedicated Accountant who brings experience and insight into the unique world of GP Practice accounts.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in the healthcare sector, specifically working with GP practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our GP clients with the preparation of annual accounts, tax returns, and pension-related submissions, while offering proactive financial guidance and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation of year-end accounts for GP practices, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
* Interpretation and analysis of NHS income streams (GMS/PMS/APMS, QOF, DES/LES, etc.)
* Preparing GP partner drawings, capital accounts, and annual pension certificates (Type 1 & Type 2)
* Advising clients on tax planning, profitability, and practice performance
* Managing client relationships with GPs, practice managers, and healthcare professionals
* Supporting digital record-keeping and submission processes (MTD compliance)
* Collaborating with colleagues to ensure deadlines are met and standards maintained
What We’re Looking For:
* ACA, ACCA qualified or equivalent
* A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience working with GP practices in an accountancy setting
* Excellent knowledge of NHS payment structures and medical accounting regulations
* Confident in using cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
* Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
* Familiarity with NHS pensions and superannuation processes
* Experience preparing GP partner drawings and dealing with partnership changes
* Membership of AISMA or strong interest in developing within the healthcare niche
