This position provides an excellent opportunity to play an important and active role in our Journalism lecturing team. This full-time, permanent role will contribute to teaching and research as a lecturer across our four NCTJ-accredited journalism courses - BA (Hons) Journalism, BA (Hons) Sports Journalism, MA Journalism, and MA Sports Journalism - in the media subject area of the School of Art and Media.
You will work with colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the courses forward.
Responsibilities and requirements include:
* a relevant degree in BA or MA Journalism
* Recent and substantive industry experience of core news reporting and production practices in multimedia and multi-platform settings.
* Expertise in how digital and social media is used in journalism practice.
* Commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion in both higher education and journalism environment.
* Up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject including current professional/vocational developments and the range of generic skills required.
* Strong research and scholarly track record or a clear sense of career trajectory in this direction.
Teaching experience in journalism at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and a professional qualification in journalism awarded by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) would be preferable. High level knowledge of the technical aspects of journalism including TV and radio studio production, audio-visual editing, content management systems, and page design software is also an advantage.
