Project Engineer / Manager

Salary: up to £45,000
Hours: 37 hours per week (4.5 day week, early finish on Fridays)
25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Our client is a specialist in providing custom‑engineered solutions to industries that experience harsh industrial environments, and heavy‑duty processes. Their products are used in offshore, oil & gas, power generation, cement plants, and metal processing industries. With routes dating back to the 1960’s, they pride themselves on delivering robust, lifetime‑supported solutions.
The business has plans for growth in the near future, and a team of extremely knowledgeable engineers with a wealth of experience. This business believes in progressing and developing its employees from within, with this role coming available due to the internal promotion of one of their existing team members.
The role
In this role, you will manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring customer requirements are met, and overseeing the design, delivery, and budget management of projects ranging in value from £5k to £1.2m. You will work closely with the Sales and Design team to ensure smooth delivery of projects and that their client’s needs are met at every step. To be successful, you should be resilient, work well under pressure, and have a drive to deliver projects to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone currently in a project manager or project engineer role, looking to progress into project management. A strong engineering background, understanding of engineering processes, compliance, and the ability to interpret CAD drawings are essential.
Your responsibilities will include
* Review and ensure project specifications meet customer needs.
* Coordinate with the engineering team to define design parameters.
* Manage timescales, delivery schedules, and project budgets.
* Review and sign‑off on design drawings and material selection.
* Engage with customers to clarify project requirements.
* Oversee project handover from sales and ensure a seamless transition to engineering and manufacturing.
* Oversee projects from conception to completion (cradle to grave).
* Ensure guidelines and regulations are adhered to.
* Use the SAP ERP system for planning resources.
What we’re looking for in a candidate
* Previous engineering experience or background.
* A solid understanding of engineering principles, with experience in managing and delivering projects preferred.
* Familiarity with ERP systems, Microsoft Projects, and Excel.
* Resilient, determined, and able to manage multiple moving parts in complex projects.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Self‑driven individual with confident communication skills.
* Ability to work independently from the engineering manager.
