Are you an experienced logistics professional looking for your next opportunity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? We’re looking for a Logistics Coordinator / Despatch Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods from order to delivery—on time and in full (OTIF).
Luxfer MEL Technologies is a leading developer and producer of highly engineered magnesium and zirconium materials, with approximately 300 employees across the UK and US.
The Package
As the Logistics Coordinator / Despatch Coordinator working at our site in Swinton (Greater Manchester), you will benefit from:
* Permanent contract, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday
* Salary in the region of £25,000 to £30,000, level dependent on experience
* Potential to earn annual bonus
* Potential to add additional skills allowances for example as a first aider, mental health first aider, trained internal auditor or quality champion

Role Overview
As a Logistics Coordinator, you will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and carriers to manage logistics operations, process documentation, and support production schedules. You will play a central part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of shipments, with responsibilities that include:
* Stock checking and processing picking lists in SAP
* Creating delivery and export documentation
* Arranging haulier/supplier collections and sample order despatches
* Labelling and preparing boxes for delivery
* Attending daily cross-departmental meetings to track order and production status
* Supporting finance and audit functions when needed
Key Responsibilities
* Organize transport and shipping documentation for domestic and international deliveries
* Ensure timely communication with internal teams to achieve OTIF performance
* Provide clear, daily updates to stakeholders and escalate issues as needed
* Track shipments, liaise with customs, and resolve clearance issues
* Manage Dangerous Goods shipments (Air, Ocean, and Road)
* Maintain and analyse logistics data using spreadsheets
* Coordinate supplier/customer returns and collections
* Work proactively to manage your workload and meet customer expectations
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in a logistics environment, ideally with exposure to international shipping
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* High level of attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
* Self-motivated and professional with excellent time management skills
* 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
* Level 3 qualification (or higher) in a relevant subject
Desirable (But Not Essential) – Training Will Be Provided:
* Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Dangerous Goods training
* SAP system experience
