Job Profile:
This growing, innovative organisation is seeking a hands-on Assembly Technician to join the team in the West Midlands.
This is a workshop-based role ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to develop a long-term technical career in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
This position is also well-suited to recent apprentices or early-career technicians who are eager to learn and build a future in specialist engineering.
The Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior technician, apprentice, or mechanical fitter to get involved with the full lifecycle of our products - from build and test, to servicing and upgrades.
You'll be part of a small, skilled team assembling precision mechanical and electrical systems, carrying out routine servicing and repairs, and supporting commissioning processes.
You’ll be supported with structured learning and hands-on training in machining, pneumatics, electronics, and system testing.
You’ll gain exposure to real engineering challenges and work alongside experienced professionals keen to help you grow.
We actively encourage development and can offer clear pathways into more senior service, engineering, or project-based roles as your experience grows.
Duties:
Assist in the assembly and integration of mechanical/electrical systems
Carry out routine servicing, inspection, and minor repairs on returned equipment
Support system testing, quality checks, and documentation
Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas
Learn and apply machining, fitting, and diagnostic techniques
Work closely with engineers and service staff to support ongoing projects
Skills & Attributes:
Hands-on experience in a mechanical or technical role (e.g., fitter, technician, apprentice-trained role)
A relevant qualification (e.g., HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or successful completion of an engineering apprenticeship)
A practical, problem-solving mindset and a strong desire to learn
Familiarity with hand tools, basic assembly methods, and technical drawings
Strong attention to detail and good communication skills
Comfortable working in a small, close-knit technical team
Applicants must be UK nationals and be born in the UK due to the nature of the company being MOD
Hours of Work:
39.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 4pm, Friday: 7:30am to 1pm
