Overview
Pharmaron is offering 12-month placements in the Analytical Chemistry department, starting in summer 2026. The placement is open to undergraduate students who will be in their penultimate or final year of a relevant science degree for the academic year 2026-2027. Closing date for applications: 31st October 2025. Interviews will be held on an ongoing basis.
As part of our dynamic and collaborative AC team, you will work alongside chemistry experts and science partners to provide analytical solutions that support our clients’ programmes and help bring new medicines to the market.
You will have the opportunity to learn and apply a wide range of modern analytical techniques during the placement, including HPLC, GC, SFC, NMR, Mass Spectrometry and Materials Solid State Analysis. You will develop and validate analytical methods for testing and characterising materials from raw ingredients to final products, contributing to R&D projects.
Responsibilities
* Learn and apply a wide range of analytical techniques (including HPLC, GC, SFC, NMR, Mass Spec and Materials Solid State Analysis) throughout pharmaceutical development.
* Develop and validate new analytical methods for testing and characterising different materials, from raw ingredients to final products.
* Contribute to projects such as polymorph screening, crystallisation optimisation or pre-formulation development.
Requirements
* Studying towards an undergraduate degree with a significant Chemistry component
* Predicted 1st or 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
* Strong teamwork skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Good problem-solving skills
* Attention to detail
* Conscientious
* Well-organised and confident to work independently
