Legal sustainability experts Achill Legal are recruiting a freelance Events Coordinator to join us as we support the legal sector in its transition to net zero. Ideally the successful candidate will have a track record in comms to support the Communications Manager across the network. Experience of the legal sector is strongly preferred. Achill Legal runs the secretariats for several leading sustainability alliances within the legal sector, including the Legal Sustainable Alliance and the Legal Charter 1.5. Our small and supportive team has delivered strategic leadership and practical support to the legal industry for over a decade; enabling private practice firms, barristers and chambers, and legal support organisations to set and achieve challenging targets to address climate change. Events play an integral role in Achill Legal’s overall strategy, and the successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Manager and Director across all secretariats, ensuring that the programme of events delivers on time and within budget. This is a freelance part-time role (circa 15 hours per week, but with potential for more), but we are looking for someone who could offer flexibility across the week i.e. spreading their hours over 3 - 5 days. The successful candidate would need to be able to work some hours on Mondays (in order to attend our weekly online team meeting in the morning) and live within commutable distance to London, (to attend events and occasional in-person meetings and catch ups). The rest of time this role is remote. We are looking for someone who is flexible, proactive, and motivated, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong IT skills are essential (Mac, Outlook, and Excel) along with a willingness to learn new platforms. Prior knowledge of Canva would is essential and of Capsule is an advantage. An understanding and/or prior experience of the nuances of the legal sector would also be helpful. Main duties and responsibilities: Setting deadlines, creating concepts and identifying the objectives of the event Implementing budget, invoicing and logistics Selecting (with the help of the team) and then organising and managing guests/speakers/experts Working closely with the Comms Manager on the promotions, communications and branding aspects of the event Resolving problems and guest enquiries before and during the event Approving all activities for the event Making a quarterly presentation to Directors about the events programme Skills: Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills Strong communication skills – both oral and written Attention to detail Microsoft 365 – including Outlook, Teams and SharePoint Experience posting on LinkedIn Canva An interest in sustainability and an understanding of how the legal sector works Desirable skills Capsule
