GMMH Bed Management and Patient Flow team aim to promote effective patient flow based on individual service users' care pathways, while ensuring least restrictive practice and optimizing lengths of stay.
The band 3 bed coordinators are expected to provide administrative support to a senior band 7 clinician over a 24/7 period to ensure that all requests for admission are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
The role involves working shifts over a 24/7 period, including some night work in a fast-paced environment. The team is looking for an individual who can work well under pressure, shows initiative, and is solution-focused.
The post holder will coordinate calls for on-call psychiatry between 5 pm and 9 am for the 2nd line on-call doctor. Responsibilities include logging all calls, contacting the 2nd on-call doctor with work requests or leaving messages if busy, and making contact when available. Maintaining a log of all requests accessible to each division will support workload prioritization.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the GMMH Patient Flow and Bed Management Team based at Old Trust HQ, Prestwich Hospital.
The post holder will:
1. Perform administrative functions related to the coordination of all admissions and discharges to and from inpatient areas, including OAPs, supported by a senior practitioner at all times.
2. Liaise with inpatient units to identify capacity, arrange admissions, and book transport to facilitate admissions, discharges, and transfers in line with GMMH policies and procedures.
The team manages admissions and discharges across the GMMH footprint in a fast and busy environment. The successful candidate must work well under pressure and be able to think on their feet. The team operates on a 24/7 shift pattern, requiring commitment to shift work over 7 days, including nights.
