We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments and strong proficiency in SolidWorks. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and support mechanical components and assemblies from concept through production, working closely with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings)
2. Translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs considering tolerances, materials, and processes
3. Support new product development from concept, prototype, testing, and transition to production
4. Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly)
5. Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and specifications documents
6. Work with supply chain (vendors and suppliers) to source components and resolve design and/or quality issues
7. Analyse and troubleshoot manufacturing or field issues and implement corrective actions
8. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to cost, quality, and performance
9. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and company procedures
10. You will be expected to carry out other duties as required by the company.
Qualifications:
11. Mechanical Engineering degree
12. 3+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
13. Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks (certification a plus)
14. Experience creating GD&T-compliant drawings
15. Understanding of common manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, moulding, and assembly
16. Ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
17. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
18. Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI)
19. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
20. Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation
21. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
22. Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments (ISO)
