Overview
Quality Checker (CDD/AML/KYC) (5622) at Irwin Mitchell. This is a hybrid position, working two days per week out of either our Sheffield, Birmingham or Manchester office. You will work closely with colleagues conducting client due diligence and conflicts checks to onboard clients, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and management to a team of Expert Coaches in the Client Onboarding department.
* Lead on client due diligence and conflicts quality, competency accreditation and technical training across departments.
* Design, implement and maintain a client due diligence and conflicts competency accreditation scheme and quality framework to ensure onboarding staff are competent and compliant, enabling career progression.
* Personally, and with the Coaches, conduct quality checking of CDD/AML and conflicts files in line with the accreditation scheme and framework; assess compliance with regulations and firm policies.
* Prepare and lead quality assurance meetings with Team Leaders and the Head of Client Onboarding; create detailed written reports at individual, team and departmental levels with findings and recommendations.
* Raise corrective actions for process or regulatory failures and liaise with case handlers and supervisors to close actions; escalate where appropriate.
* Recommend and assist with improvements to internal processes and controls; support implementation of changes within the onboarding team.
* Work with the Head of Client Onboarding, Team Leaders and Senior Officer to identify AML and conflicts technical training needs and gaps; ensure identified issues are addressed through technical training.
* Provide periodic progress reports on QA findings and training actions; coordinate with the Resource and Change Manager on training requirements and impact on the Competency Accreditation scheme.
* Design and deliver new and ongoing training for CDD, AML and conflict checking; support integration of new staff with tailored training plans.
* Monitor regulatory changes affecting client onboarding and design training to implement changes, engaging other experts as required.
* Build collaborative relationships with leaders in the client onboarding team and GCT to deliver objectives and promote best practice.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Client Due Diligence, AML and Conflict policies and procedures; ensure consistent application through training.
* Support continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and feedback loops (bulletins, lessons learned).
Essential
* In-depth technical knowledge and experience in client due diligence and conflicts.
* Strong understanding of the regulatory environment for CDD and conflicts for domestic and international clients; significant AML background.
* Proven influencing and communication skills with staff at all levels.
* Ability to work autonomously and make decisions within responsibilities.
* Experience in preparing and delivering training (one-to-one and group).
* Subject matter expert on SRA Standards and Rules relating to Conflicts and/or Financial Crime prevention.
Desirable
* Training qualifications or experience with different learning methodologies; Train the Trainer support available.
* Knowledge of AML software (e.g., Smart Search, World-Check) or other providers; knowledge of 3e.
