Salary: Scale 3 / 4 (£25,242 - £29,859) plus shift allowance and weekend work enhancement per annum
Allowances: 20% shift allowance and 262 hours weekend work enhancement. This equates to approx. £8,475 (gross) per annum in addition to yearly salary (figure based on a starting salary of £25,242) Allowances are paid from day 1 in post

As a Detention Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and ensuring the well‑being of detainees within our custody suites. This is an opportunity to work alongside committed professionals and become part of the Cleveland Police family.
What You’ll Do
Supervise and ensure the safety and security of detainees in Cleveland Police’s custody suites.
Work across the custody estate, primarily at Middlesbrough Custody Suite, with occasional duties at Hartlepool Resilience Suite during peak demand.
Support the Custody Officer from arrival to departure of detainees, including administrative tasks.
Assist in managing and processing detainees in line with:
* Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE)
* Terrorism Act
* Crime (Sentences) Act
* Authorised Professional Practice (APP)
What We’re Looking For
Flexibility to meet the demands of the role
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully as part of a team
Commitment to completing 5 weeks initial training including mandatory Personal Safety Training and First Aid Training upon appointment, plus willingness to be trained in the use of a defibrillator.
It is essential for candidates to hold a Level 2 qualification (GCSE or equivalent) at Grade C / Level 4 or above, in order to submit an application form.
