Our residential care and recovery homes are based in York, North Yorkshire and provide a therapeutic community setting, encouraging the development, well-being and independence of our residents. Offering long-term, medium-term and short-term care, as part of an individual recovery pathway to support our residents in reaching their full potential, enabling some to move back into the wider community, with varying degrees of support.
We are The Gravers, a small and friendly team currently looking for a Support Worker for our care premises in York. Working hours for this role are subject to the home's rota. The successful applicant would work 40 hours per week - however, this amount could be negotiable for the right candidate. The weekday rate for this role is £13.30 per hour and the weekend rate is £13.80.
Job specifications and responsibilities:
a) To help each resident achieve and maintain a good quality of life and to realise their optimum potential
b) To maximise their independence, to encourage choice within the confines of what is practical and sociably acceptable.
c) To acquaint themselves with the residents care plans.
d) Recognise the need for accurate reporting. To take part in staff and residents meetings and attend training sessions when requested
e) Help residents who have mobility or physical disabilities
f) Encourage good personal hygiene and appropriate dress, assist in the control of incontinence.
g) Monitor their physical and mental well being, reporting back to the senior staff who can take appropriate action.
h) Dispense medication (after in-house training)
i) Be aware of what constitutes "help" in a resident's rehabilitation program
j) Welcome visitors and offer any assistance they may require
k) When not attending to residents use the time available to perform domestic duties as instructed
l) Carry out duties with regards to the fire regulation policy
m) Observe the home health and safety policy at all times
n) To keep information regarding residents confidential at all times outside the home.
o) To be responsible for toiletry requirements and appointments for the residents whom you have been designated as key worker.
