We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Liability Trading to join our Breeze Underwriting team at Geo Underwriting, Colchester, with hybrid working available.
Responsibilities
* Trading budget delivery
* Drive financial performance and operational productivity to meet and exceed targets
* Lead a highly efficient trading culture
* Work proactively and collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to maximize broker account performance, specifically with the broker relationship team and technical teams to maximise technical, service and resource performance and productivity
* People leadership, training and development
* Support the business through full integration and alignment with Geo
* Develop (in conjunction with the CUO office) and execute an underwriting strategy for Breeze Underwriting
* Ensure adherence to the technical pricing model and framework to maximise risk selection within appetite and establish processes to monitor underwriting
* Identify and implement opportunities to improve the underwriting footprint, for example using external data to determine geographical risk and pricing flexibility
* Monitor underwriting results and other key metrics in conjunction with Pricing and Sales/Distribution to identify growth opportunities and establish remedial plans
* Support the management of the internal Underwriting Governance Framework, including licensing, QA activity, internal audits and the authority/binder breach processes
* Participate in new product innovation and existing product management to improve income and margin
* Lead the liability trading teams across applicable locations
* Monitor and anticipate customer needs and deliver against service proposition metrics
* Meet regularly with internal and external stakeholders to improve customer service
* Case underwriting and contribute towards growth through front line trading
Qualifications & Experience
* Liability underwriting experience
* Experience within senior underwriting roles in the UK Insurance sector
* Wide exposure to all segments of the UK Retail and Wholesale insurance distribution
* Senior-level network within both intermediaries and insurers
* Strong operational and project management awareness
* Ideally educated to degree standard and/or ACII qualified
What we are looking for in our Head of Liability Trading:
* Strong technical liability (construction classes in particular) knowledge
* Developed broker and capacity relationships
* Strong customer focus and ability to motivate a team to share that focus
* Knowledge of the Insurance industry, MGAs and the Lloyds market with the ability to transfer this quickly to the business area
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyse base data and provide commercially sound and viable business solutions
* Ability to communicate facts clearly both written and verbal to peers and senior management, adapting content and approach as necessary
* Very strong influencing, negotiating and motivational skills
* Track record showing the ability to react positively and effectively to customer needs
* Commitment to lifelong learning and development of others
* Experience of managing people with strong leadership skills
* Excellent time management skills
* Ability to work within a project environment
* Show resilience and drive, be prepared to try new ways of working, accept change, adhere to new requirements and contribute towards problem solving
