Job overview This post offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be part a small team who are often the first point of contact for our services. Our Switchboard/Reception desk provides a 24 hour, 7 days a week service giving information and directing people in a helpful and courteous manner to the correct person, department or facility. Your main duties will be to undertake switchboard operator duties, face to face contact with members of the public visiting the hospital and to monitor site security cameras. You will be responding to a wide range of callers sometimes in crisis or emergency situations and monitoring the sites fire alarms, responding to intruder alarms and liaising with on call teams, security companies and the police, depending on the nature of the call or incident. You should be a team player with basic computer skills, GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent) as well as previous experience of switchboard, and reception duties and the ability to work in a busy environment. The post is offered as a 13 hour post to be worked on evenings and weekends, however the successful candidate will be required to cover other shifts as and when necessary and this may require working during standard office hours 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.
