The Children We Care For- Family Time Service offers reunification family support and supervised contact for children looked after in East Sussex. We are pleased to advertise for a Community Family Worker (CFW) to join our large and busy service. The countywide teams are based in Newhaven, Hailsham and Hastings. This post will be based in Newhaven. The role will involve encouraging positive relationships between children and their important people during periods of assessment and decision-making about a child’s future. Responsibilities include supervising family time sessions, observing interactions, and producing accurate written accounts of these sessions. The post holder will promote play, healthy eating, and respectful boundaries, as well as ensure the safe transportation of children across counties as a contracted car user. The role also requires attendance and active contribution to multi-agency meetings, including court proceedings, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure while managing time efficiently. CFWs encourage positive relationships between children and their birth-families during the period in which assessment is undertaken and decisions are made about a child's future. We promote play, healthy eating and respectful boundaries in the course of our intervention. Neutrality and accuracy about what is seen and heard is imperative. We are looking for candidates who: Have knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures Have ability to drive across the county, including transport of children as contracted car user Have experience of direct work with parents and children, for example, youth work, nurseries etc Able to make decisions under pressure CFWs must have excellent time management skills.
