Salary: £24,976 - £26,621 per annum

35 Hours per Week

Location: Worcestershire County Museum

Team: County Museum Team

Fixed Term Contract (2 years)

Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on our Arts Council England project, Atchin Tan - Stopping Places, as well as delivering on some of the County Museum schools programme on site, alongside other members of the Museum Learning Team.

The role

This role will be of interest to someone looking for a dynamic and fast-paced role in a Museum Learning Team, leading on our Atchin Tan – Stopping Places project and delivering school workshops.

Worcestershire County Museum has been successful in receiving funding for Atchin Tan – Stopping Places. As the lead for this project, you will bring to life the Gypsy Vardos (wagons) collection. Informed by personal perspectives of the traveling communities, you will work together to pilot ideas, and to accurately represent and share their heritage & culture.

This role will also be part of the wider Museum Learning Team, delivering on our busy schools programme as historic costumed characters, covering a variety of areas of the curriculum.

A week in this role could entail: Meeting with members of the travelling community and facilitating workshops, working with artists, leading on staff or project meetings, being dressed as a Victorian school teacher delivering a school workshop at the Museum, working with our collections team or writing project reports.

Main activities


* Lead on community consultation and facilitate workshops for Atchin Tan – Stopping Places
* Enable the Museum as a space to explore honest representations of traveller life/culture, celebrating traditions & heritage by using local family connections
* Gather content through consultation to inform Museum interpretation
* Work with Researcher to contextualise archival collection/interpretation
* Work with artists to artist workshops to inform interpretation – meeting needs of community by focusing on outputs relevant to them
* Develop and lead Vardo forum for staff, artists and communities to design programming and new interpretation
* Lead on evaluation, qualitative and quantitative, for project
* Be a key part of the Museum Learning Team, delivering on our core school workshops where necessary
