If you can bring the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm we have a modern, purpose-built paediatric area in the Emergency Department at RHCH. We are seeking dynamic, motivated and passionate band 5 Paediatric Nurses with a drive for providing high quality care to help shape the future of our department.
You will work closely with the paediatric senior sister, our emergency nurse practitioners and other team members across the Emergency department, including our own Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultants. Alongside this team you will help form and enhance the care of children presenting to the Emergency department. This role offers the successful applicant an excellent opportunity to use their skills and experience to help structure the future direction of the department where no two days are the same.
Main duties of the job
We seek someone with ideas and drive to help continue to improve the care delivered to children and the experience they have in the department with a passion of advocating for children and their families.
The main duties of this role are to provide nursing care to children with a wide range of medical, surgical, and orthopaedic conditions. You will care for these children in many areas of the department including our own personal Paediatric Resuscitation Bay.
You would be responsible for the delivery of expert care to children and supporting adult nursing colleagues in understanding how to provide the best possible care to children.
We will also teach you and help you expand on your existing skills including (but not limited to) Plastering, wound care, venepuncture and cannulation and the care of the critically ill child/young person.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Professional UK registration with NMC as a Children’s or dual field nurse or adult registered nurse with significant clinical experience working in a children’s clinical environment
2. Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience

3. Additional Post graduate learning in specialist field including master’s degree or working towards
