Investment Trust Accountant for a global asset management business based in Edinburgh

Our client, a leading global asset management business, has an exciting job opportunity for a qualified accountant to join them as an Investment Trust Accountant to support its range of Investment Trusts.
Your new role
Working closely with the Investment Trust Company Secretaries, with a particular focus on Financial Reporting aspects (Revenue Forecasts, Budgets, etc.), you will be responsible for preparing the Interim and Year-end Accounts, financial-related board papers, and liaising with auditors.
Duties will include:
1. Prepare annual and interim accounts, ensuring compliance with current accounting standards, regulations, and legislation.
2. Review month-end reconciliations, controls, and calculate monthly net asset values for reporting deadlines. Circulate net asset value schedules to fund managers and company secretaries.
3. Prepare board papers, including portfolio schedules, transactions, liquidity, revenue forecasts, and collate schedules from the company secretary and investment managers.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with service providers such as auditors, lawyers, and registrars.
5. Ensure client administration requirements are met according to management and secretarial agreements.
6. Understand and monitor client investment objectives, guidelines, regulations, and compliance issues.
7. Liaise with tax advisers for timely tax computations and review before submission to HMRC.
8. Prepare statutory returns, including VAT.
9. Maintain statutory information on Blueprint, ensuring accuracy and currency.
10. Participate in Audit Committees and Board meetings as needed.
11. Stay updated on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the trusts and technical areas.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant with strong interpersonal and communication skills, as the role involves client interaction. Experience in Investment Trust accounting practices and governance is preferred. Experience in financial reporting for Investment Trusts and presenting at Board and Audit Committee meetings is advantageous but not mandatory.
