Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused legal professional who can manage a busy caseload, represent FCHO in legal proceedings, and lead our disrepair legal function.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Providing expert legal advice and representation across housing management cases (disrepair, ASB, possession, injunctions, etc.)
* Managing and supporting the Disrepair Paralegals
* Ensuring legal compliance and mitigating organisational risk
* Advising internal stakeholders at all levels, contributing to legal strategy and best practice
* Representing FCHO at County Court, Magistrates Court and Tribunals
* Drafting legal documentation and case pleadings
* Maintaining accurate records and staying current with relevant legislation
* Supporting development of legal resources, templates and training
* Collaborating across teams, especially with the Assets Team, to enhance service delivery
What do you need?
Essential:
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive
* Law degree or equivalent
* Experience handling housing law and disrepair cases
* Advocacy and strong drafting skills
* Excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
* Experience managing a caseload and working to tight deadlines
* An understanding of Awaab’s Law, housing legislation, and civil litigation procedures
* The ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity
Desirable:
* Experience supporting or managing junior team members
* Prior in-house legal experience, ideally in social housing
* Experience defending social housing providers
* Knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Excel for reporting
* Exposure to EDI-led environments
