Since their inception 20 years ago, the company has grown rapidly having completed works on over 5,000 tenanted properties and now turnover in excess of £80 million offering comprehensive works covering full kitchen and bathroom replacements, electrical rewires, boiler changes, new heating systems, disabled adaptations, external insulated rendering, general roofing, loft insulation, and external environmental works.
The Role
Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Roofing Division.
This is a key commercial role responsible for managing the financial and contractual performance of roofing projects delivered within social housing frameworks. The successful candidate will oversee cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, and final accounts, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual obligations.
The role will involve close collaboration with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure commercial success while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Manage the full commercial lifecycle of roofing contracts
* Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts
* Monitor project costs and forecast financial performance
* Identify and manage variations and change control processes
* Ensure accurate cost reporting and margin protection
* Produce monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations)
* Prepare and issue subcontract enquiries
* Analyse and negotiate subcontractor quotations
* Draft and administer subcontract agreements
* Manage subcontractor payments and performance
* Ensure supply chain compliance and value for money
* Ensure compliance with relevant contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC, bespoke frameworks)
* Manage risk and identify commercial opportunities
* Support dispute resolution where necessary
* Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
* Liaise with local authorities and housing association representatives
* Attend client progress and commercial meetings
* Provide commercial input to operational and project delivery teams
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
* Monitor budgets and cost plans
* Provide regular financial updates to senior management
* Assist in pricing new works and tender submissions where required
* Ensure projects meet targeted profit margins
