RME-WHS Project Manager, High Risk Operations Team

The Regional Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, EU RME, will provide direct support and partnership to one or more of the Europe Reliability & Maintenance Engineering pillars, which may include Europe Customer Fulfilment (EUCF), Amazon Logistics (EUAMZL), Amazon Transportation Services (EUATS), and Global Specialty Fulfilment & Retail (EUGSF). This role involves supporting RME pillars from an execution standpoint and engaging with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within WHS, RME, and other functions (e.g., Operations, Ops Construction, Ops Engineering, Worldwide Engineering, R&D, Suppliers, Amazon Robotics, Procurement) to improve network WHS standards and procedures. The individual supports field program execution and collaborates with the WHS RME Regional Manager/WHS Program Manager, who develops RME-related WHS programs (e.g., procedures, processes, training, capital projects).
Key job responsibilities
1. Develop strong partnerships with RME and WHS stakeholders for your supported pillars.
2. Establish incident investigation, escalation, and reporting structures to ensure timely notification and root cause analysis.
3. Assess risks in maintenance operations, implement reduction measures, communicate policies, and track completion methods.
4. Review KPIs and incidents to determine WHS alerts or network actions, and drive content development through communication processes.
5. Partner on equipment-related incidents with OEMs, Ops Engineering, RME, and other teams to identify design or retrofit needs.
6. Support RME leadership in enhancing technician engagement, safety issue escalation, stop work authority, and peer review programs.

The RME WHS team, part of High-Risk Operations, operates under the mantra: “Safe to Operate. Operate Safely.” We enable partners to manage safety risks from machinery, equipment, and contractors, focusing on end-to-end risk reduction aligned with the hierarchy of controls. We influence safety behaviors through analysis of human factors, KPIs, and incidents, and shape safety interventions based on lessons learned. Our policies, standards, and procedures are maintained and improved through trained personnel, supporting Amazon’s commitment to world-class safety standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in program or project management
* Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) and SQL
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in safety, industrial or quality engineering, RME, or Business Administration (per EQF)
* Experience in Safety, RME, Engineering, Quality, or Operations
* Experience overseeing programs like Fall Hazard Control, Electrical Safe Work, LOTO, Conveyors, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, Fire Systems, PIT, Cranes, Rigging
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master's degree
* Certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, CHMM
* Knowledge of ISO 45000 standards and regulatory requirements
* Experience deploying automated reporting systems (e.g., Gensuite)
* Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
* Strong communication and analytical skills
* Experience in technical or program writing
* Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments
