Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure, PICU and acute mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.
We are recruiting for a full-time Maintenance Assistant to carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order. No specific qualifications are required; however, applicants should have a general background in maintenance work (carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating).
You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Your Day-to-Day
* Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep building, plant, and services in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed.
* Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work.
* Ensure all equipment used is clean and well maintained.
* Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment and potential hazards.
* Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices and fire emergency lights.
* Test and record all portable appliances as specified in Group procedures.
* Be on call approximately once every five weeks for emergencies (fire, flood, etc.).
We Are Looking For People Who Have
* Experience working within a team and on your own in a maintenance/building contractor role.
* Experience repairing various equipment and materials, painting, decorating, plumbing, carpentry and basic wiring.
* Preferably hold a City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Carpentry or Plumbing.
* Working knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
* A good practical knowledge of basic plumbing is advantageous.
