Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic therapy team in HCOP (Healthcare of the Older Person). A passion for working with and improving outcomes for frail older adults is essential for this role. This is a permanent, full‑time position.
The team covers 9 wards across QMC and City campus, including acute wards, medically fit wards and the Medical Mental Health Unit with emphasis on Dementia and Delirium, which means our caseload is really varied.
You will be supported to develop specialist skills for complex assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of older people with complex physical, cognitive and social needs, ensuring a holistic and patient‑centred approach to therapy. We work closely with system partners and endeavour towards excellence in discharge from the acute setting.
We welcome applications from experienced therapists looking for a new challenge, as well as those who might be looking to step up into their first Band 6 role. NUH offers an Early Band 6 Development Programme to support the transition from Band 5 to Band 6.
The successful Therapist will receive a comprehensive induction to the Trust and the team, regular clinical supervision and an annual personal development review. You will also be expected to support the development of more junior colleagues and take an active role in the education of student occupational therapists.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to patients with a variety of different presentations.
* Manage complex discharges and support other team members to do the same.
* Support the MDT, working closely with all professions.
* Optimise patient flow.
* Provide effective supervision to Band 5 OTs and support staff.
* Deputise for Band 7 OTs as appropriate.
* Work flexibly, including rostered weekends.
EEO Statement
We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are striving to be better represented at NUH.
This advert closes on Sunday 7 Jun 2026.
