Business Development Lead-BESS and Flexible Generation Optimisation Conrad Energy is seeking a senior commercial leader with extensive experience in the UK energy sector to drive the commercial strategy, optimisation, and route-to-market performance of our battery storage, renewable generation, and flexible asset portfolio. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of managing large, complex transactions and strong knowledge across wholesale, ancillary, and flexibility markets. Key Responsibilities Battery Storage and Flexibility Markets Deep understanding of BESS optimisation, dispatch, revenue stacking, and merchant strategies. Strong knowledge of GB flexibility markets, including balancing services, ancillary products, and capacity market participation. Experience with hybrid asset structures and renewable/storage co-location strategies. Contract Structuring and Negotiation Skilled in structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements such as optimisation contracts, PPAs, tolling agreements, route-to-market arrangements, and flexibility services contracts. Capable of designing commercially robust, scalable commercial models. Leadership and Stakeholder Management Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate effectively between commercial, technical, and trading functions. Acts as a primary point of contact for clients and partners, ensuring delivery of high-quality commercial services. Adept at influencing stakeholders, shaping commercial direction, and managing key relationships. About You 5 years' experience in the UK energy industry, ideally spanning one or more of optimisation, trading interfaces, commercial strategy, and asset management. Recent responsibility for managing and optimising technologies such as battery energy storage and peaking assets. Proven ability to work across trading, product, regulatory, and finance teams to deliver integrated commercial outcomes. Experience in both large corporates and high-growth, scaling organisations, with comfort operating in fast-paced commercial environments.
