We seek a collaborative teaching principal. This person must have a strong commitment to understanding and embodying the Tamariki school special character. Our school provides play-based, child-led education for up to 60 children. An essential component of being part of our school is participating fully in our democratic meeting system.
Our new principal will:
* Display a passion for the maintenance and preservation of the special character of our school.
* Model and actively promote our school special character, eg be willing to play with the students, tolerate a messy environment and be comfortable that the students and the principal have the same voting rights when making school rules.
* Collaboratively lead the implementation of curriculum through a learner-centred, play-based approach.
* Demonstrate experience and confidence in relating to and working with children of all ages in a child-led environment reflective of the Tamariki school special character.
* Accept that the social and emotional growth of the children works alongside their academic success.
* Maintain strong communication and healthy relationships with all members of the school community.
* Actively promote and honour the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Some qualities wanted in our new principal are:
* Playfulness, empathy, kindness.
* Is a strong communicator and active listener.
* A deep-seated knowledge of child development and an embedded trust and respect for a child’s inner drive for development.
* Ability to establish and maintain strong, positive working relationships with students and wider community.
As the Principal role at Tamariki School is classed as a special position, applications will also be reviewed by a committee of the Tamariki Society in accordance with Education Act, schedule 6, clause 52 to determine the applicant's suitability in terms of Tamariki Schools Special Character.
Position will commence in term 4, 2024 or sooner by agreement.
