A lovely, inclusive primary school in the BS3 area of Bristol is looking for a Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team this January.
The school has a warm, community feel, but the Reception class can be lively and fast paced, so you will need to be energetic, proactive and confident supporting young children with varying needs. You will work closely with a supportive class teacher and an experienced Early Years Lead who will guide you and help you develop in the role.
The role:
- Support the Reception class teacher with delivering engaging, age appropriate activities
- Work with children one to one and in small groups, including those who may need extra help
- Support learning through play, phonics, early maths and literacy
- Encourage positive behaviour and help create a calm, inclusive classroom
- Help with classroom organisation, displays and basic admin tasks
- Support children’s social, emotional and academic development throughout the day
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly
Who this role would suit:
We are keen to hear from people with experience in child focused roles such as:
- Nursery or preschool assistant
- After school club or holiday camp leader
- Sports coaching for children or youth teams
- Swimming instructor, dance teacher or drama leader for children
- Youth group leader, scout / guide volunteer or similar roles
These backgrounds show you can manage behaviour, communicate clearly, think on your feet and build quick rapport with young children.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about supporting young learners and making a real difference
- Patient, caring and enthusiastic with strong people skills
- Reliable, organised and happy to muck in as part of a busy, fast paced team
- Confident working with children from a range of backgrounds and abilities
