Job Title: Service Manager Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 Location: Doncaster Benefits: Company vehicle fuel card Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to support and lead our service operations within a busy forklift and materials-handling environment. You will oversee workflow, provide technical and operational support to field and workshop engineers, and ensure customers receive fast, efficient service with minimal truck downtime. Your role is essential in maintaining high service standards, controlling departmental costs, and ensuring the smooth running of the depot. Duties & Responsibilities Oversee Work in Process and Progress throughout the service function, following a structured 45-day process Lead and support depot audits focused on performance, process, and people Assist engineers in diagnosing and resolving technical forklift issues as required Support the Service Advisor and engineers in managing customer queries and resolving issues promptly Identify and address training needs using the department skills matrix (across all entities) Drive retail service sales and support service initiatives alongside the General Manager Promote a strong First Time Fix culture to improve customer satisfaction and reduce repeat visits Ensure all service procedures are followed, including work planning, job allocation, workshop organisation, and housekeeping standards Oversee the full customer journey and ensure a professional, consistent service experienceSkills Required Understanding of forklifts, plant, agricultural or materials-handling equipment Strong communication skills with an empathetic and customer-focused approach Effective questioning and listening skills Confidence in analysing service data and performance trends Strong time-management abilities Project and planning experience Proven complaint-handling and objection-management skillsBehaviours Open, honest, and transparent communication Positive attitude with a proactive mindset Strong team player committed to shared success Respectful, values-driven approach Dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experienceNext Steps If this Service Manager role aligns with your experience in the forklift or materials-handling industry — or if you’re exploring your next career move — please contact Jack on (phone number removed) or apply today.
