Curtis Brown is one of the world's leading literary and talent agencies, representing authors, playwrights, film and television writers and directors, theatre stars in the UK and around the world.
Client Accounts are part of the Business Support Department. The team are responsible for invoicing for money on behalf of our clients, collecting money due, deducting the company’s commission and passing on the remainder of the payment onto the client. The work is essential to the business and involves liaising with senior creative staff.
Main purpose of job
* To provide accounting assistance to the Talent agents and assistants by helping with the timely processing of payments to clients.
* To be a valued member of the Client Accounts team, who can confidently deal with agents, clients and complex queries.
* The job will focus on the following aspects of client accounting: processing current and royalty payments for talent, assisting with tax forms and incoming client queries.
Responsibilities
* Own and manage subsidiary account, Tavistock Wood, acting as the primary point of contact for all client accounting services
* Liaising with agents and other Curtis Brown & Tavistock Wood staff, as required e.g. payment queries, client information etc
* Support on Curtis Brown client accounting services, working across all currencies GBP, USD & EUR
* Processing payments through bespoke payments system for both accounts
* Raising VAT invoices on behalf of clients
* Credit control on behalf of clients
* Investigating unallocated amounts received and payments on holdDealing with client’s queries, for example tax, VAT, paperwork, outstanding payments etc. via phone or email, in a timely and professional manner
* Updating financial records e.g. Cashbook (showing money in and out of the accounts)
* Use online banking platforms to download bank statements, inter-account transfers, and initiate CHAPS, BACS and international payments across multiple banking systems
* Work closely with management to identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes, supporting a culture of continuous improvement
* Other administrative duties as and when required
Experience and Skills required
* A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in either an accounts department or similar
* Experience working in talent agency or law firm with client trust accounting would be ideal
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Highly organised
* Strong communication skills – good email and phone manner essential
* Good team player but also happy to work unsupervised
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Experience of working with databases and spreadsheets (Excel)
* Maintains high levels of focus and concentration
