Job Description
Key responsibilities for the interim Procurement Manager role:
3. Conduct a full review of spend data across multiple product and service categories used across more than 40 ambulance sites.
4. Analyse financial, operational, and supplier data to identify trends, cost drivers, overspend, and KPI performance.
5. Recommend and prioritise new tenders or re-procurement activities to reduce spend and improve value for money.
6. Work closely with Accounts Payable to streamline invoicing processes, reduce discrepancies, and improve controls.
7. Carry out contract reviews to evaluate commercial performance, compliance, risks, and opportunities for renegotiation or consolidation.
8. Develop cost-saving initiatives and provide clear, actionable recommendations to the senior team.
9. Support operational teams in implementing strong contract management practice, including performance monitoring, renewal planning, and supplier engagement.
10. Act as a subject-matter expert on procurement processes, governance, and best practice.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Interim Procurement Manager should have:
11. Proven experience as a Procurement Manager, Category Manager, or similar senior procurement professional.
12. Strong background in public sector or regulated procurement, ideally with experience of multi-site operations.
13. Excellent spend analysis, commercial review, and contract optimisation skills.
14. Strong understanding of tendering, category management, and supplier performance management.
15. Experience improving AP processes or working closely with finance teams.
16. Able to work at pace, interpret complex datasets, and deliver clear recommendations.
17. Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, from operational teams to senior leadership.
