Senior Corporate Counsel will support the strategic objectives of Knotel by providing pragmatic and solutions-focused legal advice whilst identifying and appropriately managing risk on all legal aspects of Knotel's commercial operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Negotiating contracts for new partnerships, renewals, amendments and the offering of Knotel products and services.
* Draft, review, and finalise through negotiation contracts and transactional documentation.
* Engage with the commercial team leading negotiations with landlords and clients.
* Identify areas for learning and development and provide training or coaching to improve.
* Advising on strategic and legal issues, including providing clear and constructive advice on a range of queries from the business related to facilities management, project management, and consulting services.
* Assist with contentious or compliance issues as they arise, including incidents across the business, working towards practical solutions, settlement or dispute strategy for successful outcome for Knotel where appropriate.
* Protect Knotel position by proactively enforcing contractual rights.
* Work with the wider business to improve precedents and protocols to manage legal risk efficiently, and produce updates to alert the business of important developments in the law.
* Proactively building effective legal, compliance and external affairs relationships within the organisation.
* Provide flexible support to assist the business as it grows and expands into new business lines, including property management services.
EDUCATION
* Solicitor qualified in England and Wales.
EXPERIENCE
* Significant Post Qualification Experience gained in-house and/or at a leading law firm.
* Expert knowledge of contract and commercial law, with experience in at least some of the following areas: dispute resolution, corporate, compliance, telecommunications law and regulation.
* Expert in drafting, reviewing and finalising contracts, amendments and policies.
SKILLS
* Excellent communicator, and strong negotiator with the ability to independently negotiate complex contracts and transactions, with a preference to professionals who have experience with commercial contracts and corporate outsourcing (real estate, facilities management, IT or IP) or similar services.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Confidence to give advice to senior executives, and to escalate issues appropriately to supervisors and business decision makers.
* Ability to isolate complex legal issues and provide prompt, concise and commercially focused legal advice, while balancing risks and benefits to the Company.
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities with excellent follow‑up skills and organization.
* Ability to develop solid business relationships with clients, key vendors and landlords.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in partnership with the wider Newmark and Group Legal Department.
