Central to our success are of course our very talented lawyers, but they couldn't achieve their results without the ongoing support from our Finance team who have an essential role to play in growing the business and maintaining our financial performance. We've identified that we can add real value to our clients and gain a competitive advantage when we have meaningful data to analyse, especially when it comes to financial information. We need to ensure this information is analysed regularly and that our existing systems continue to meet the needs of both our clients and lawyers in an ever-changing legal landscape.
We therefore have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Financial Systems Assistant to join our team in Newcastle.
About the Role
As a Junior Financial Systems Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the maintenance and development of our financial systems. Working closely with colleagues across the firm, you'll help ensure the smooth running of our financial reporting tools and processes, while developing your technical and analytical skills for future career progression.
You'll assist with resolving day-to-day issues across our financial systems, including our practice management system (Aderant). You'll support the development, testing, and implementation of new system features and upgrades, while maintaining and updating financial reports using Excel and other tools. We're looking for somebody who can provide first-line support to users, respond to queries, and escalate more complex issues when needed. Additionally, you'll contribute to user training sessions, promote best practices, and ensure system processes and user guides are clearly documented.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, technically minded, and eager to learn. You'll be joining a team where your contributions will be valued and your development supported. You'll have an interest in Finance & Data Management, along with strong Excel skills and a keen interest in developing your knowledge of SSRS and SQL scripting. With clear communication, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, you'll be highly motivated, well-organised, and thrive as a collaborative team player.
To be successful in this role, you'll need as a minimum:
1. GCSEs/A-Levels or equivalent.
2. Strong Excel skills and a willingness to learn SSRS and SQL scripting.
3. Proven experience of multi tasking and managing your own workload.
