Magdalene is on the lookout for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our central commercial team based at a local Magdalene office in the UK.

You will:

Lead and manage all aspects of key processes and systems
Lead, develop and motivate the team and supply chain to ensure delivery of projects and objectives in a timely; safe and cost-effective manner to required governance with a considered customer focus
Maximise opportunities to apply process improvement and best practice methodologies (where appropriate) to improve process efficiency
Design and monitor appropriate metrics to ensure effective performance and continuous improvement in the work of the team
Manage and build excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Support and deliver work programmes in line with plan, budget and standards
Possess an in-depth knowledge of various company processes
Ensure company values are understood and upheld and those high standards of safety, engagement and wellbeing are engendered
Identify and validate opportunities for improved revenue returns or customer benefits that currently do not exist
Define commercial strategy for associated network
Manage the application of and development of existing commercial policies to fully meet the requirements of the customers and stakeholders within their market sector
Specialist Accountabilities
Maintaining full understanding of the end-to-end commercial landscape and provide support (including technical) to Operations to ensure business / commercial objectives are met
Responsible for leading change projects within the Commercial process and ensuring change projects meet wider objectives of the business and are appropriately supported
Forming good working relationships with functional heads across the business and with our Operational colleagues to support the delivery of business objectives
Identifying root causes of business performance issues and developing related process review/improvement opportunities to close gaps in performance and/or to identify efficiencies to ensure business performance goals are achieved
Support the management of the Commercial financial budget
Provide expertise and industry support on the administration of the Commercial processes
Identifying underlying data quality issues and put in place corrective actions with supporting functions
Provides a framework for the teams to work within which demonstrates compliance and are held to account
Manage change control
Responsible for identifying and implementing future opportunities for process and performance improvement
Ensuring review and robust challenges of contract data, tender costs, resources, and programmes
Supporting the project team with scope information, mini-tenders and contract creation
Supporting the Project Delivery team in producing all necessary contract instructions and communications
Providing detailed cost assurance reports demonstrating delivery of or out performance of the project baseline
Developing and presenting detailed commercial forecasting to internal key stakeholders
Reporting and processing income relevant to customer contracts
Ensuring commercial and financial processes (accruals and forecasting), governance requirements (such as change requests) and procedures are adhered to during the delivery phase
Managing contingency through cost review and risk reduction meetings held with the contractors and the Project Delivery team, ensuring compliance with the contract terms and conditions and deliver the desired cost outcome
