Teaching Assistant – SEN & Specialist Education Great Yarmouth, Norfolk Hourly rate: £14.30 - £15.50 per hour (Paid weekly, in arrears) Hours: 32.5 hours per week Working pattern: Monday: 8.30am – 3.30pm Tuesday: 8.45am – 4.30pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 8.45am – 3.30pm Weeks worked: Term time (38 weeks per year) Contract: Temp to Perm Teaching Assistant job in Great Yarmouth – make a real difference We are proud to be supporting a welcoming and inclusive specialist education setting in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, currently expanding as part of a long‑term growth plan. About the role The setting supports pupils from primary through to secondary age, and applicants are encouraged to indicate their preferred age range. About the setting This is a residential specialist school for boys aged 7–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils have experienced disrupted education and benefit from consistent, caring and nurturing support. Staff work together with compassion and high expectations to ensure pupils leave with positive academic outcomes, improved confidence, and the social and emotional skills needed for adulthood. Who we’re looking for This role would suit someone who is: Passionate about working with children and young people with SEN Calm, patient and emotionally resilient Reliable, committed and a strong team player Warm, approachable and able to build positive relationships Applicants with interests or hobbies that could enhance enrichment activities (such as sport, arts, music or outdoor learning) are especially welcome. A strong staff wellbeing and professional development programme is in place, making this a fantastic Teaching Assistant opportunity in Norfolk for both experienced practitioners and those looking to grow within specialist education. Key details 32.5 hours per week, term time only plus 5 training days Pay weekly, in arrears Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English is essential Willingness to undertake further training as required Safeguarding and safer recruitment This role involves working with children and young people and is subject to robust safeguarding and safer recruitment procedures. The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and, where applicable, a declaration under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009.
