Within our Day Services, you will support our fantastic young people to carry out a range of person centred activities such as; Accessing the community to take part in a variety of physical activities (Swimming, Cycling, Trampolining - yes, all the fun things), developing independent living skills (Cooking/Baking, Cleaning, Car Washing) as well as enhancing Literacy and Numeracy skills, and promoting independence in everyway we can.
These posts can be full time or part time and are permanent. The shifts are run on a two week rota, an example of this would be: Mon - Fri (week 1), Tues - Sat or Tues - Fri and a Sunday (week 2). To be clear, you may need to work 1 weekend a month.
A normal shift could be 8am to 4:30pm with a possible 1 shift per week finishing at 8pm.
Applicants with experience of Autism, Positive Behaviour Support, promoting independence (personal care), choice and social inclusion are preferred but training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
* Carry out and the implementation of care plans
* Support learners with daily activities, i.e. cooking, accessing the community, physical activities, arts and crafts, literacy and numeracy.
* Effectively communicate with all service users, staff and professionals
* Promote independence at all times
* Enable choice whilst balancing well-being
* Adopt creative approaches to challenging behaviour
* Calm and collected in pressurised situations
* Create a supportive, nurturing and trusting environment where by people are able to develop
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Support Worker within a care environment preferred but not essential
* Ideally qualified to level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or Assisting Teaching and Learning 2 or 3 (not essential)
* Able to work a shift pattern on a rolling rota
* Flexibility with working hours
* Excellent communication skills
* Calm and caring manner
* An understanding of the difficulties encountered by young people with Learning Disabilities/Autism when transitioning from children to adult services
* The ability to use non verbal communication systems and social stories
* An understanding of Autism
* The ability to work within a Positive Behavioural Support Plan
